Specify dimensions, quantity and units
Specify thickness, length and width ranges, quantity and units. Confirm nominal versus measured delivery thickness and the permitted tolerance. A price-per-volume question alone does not identify a specific lot.
Match grade labels to grading rules

Explain your use and appearance requirements
Furniture, custom woodwork and craft manufacturers may have different cutting and appearance requirements. Describe the intended use, visible faces and acceptable defects. Usable yield depends on the actual boards and cutting plan.
